Li Bai's 'Hard Road' Ink Scroll

A traditional Chinese ink hanging scroll style painting is created on warm beige rice paper, using a vertical composition. The upper and middle right areas feature large black ink calligraphy, while the lower left and bottom feature poetic landscape illustrations. The calligraphy must be clear and easy to read, using expressive running script strokes divided into six vertical columns, read from right to left. The specific text in the six columns is: "Golden goblets of fine wine cost ten thousand coins each; jade plates of rare delicacies worth ten thousand coins"; "Stopping cups and chopsticks, unable to eat; drawing swords and looking around, heart lost"; "Wishing to cross the Yellow River, ice blocks the stream; about to climb Taihang, snow covers the mountains"; "Idly, fishing on the green creek, suddenly I board a boat and dream of the sun's edge", "The road is hard, the road is hard, many forks in the road, where are we now", "There will be times when the long wind breaks the waves, hoisting the cloud sails to cross the vast sea." A smaller vertical signature reading "Li Bai Travels Hard" is added to the left side of the main poem, and a red square seal is stamped below the signature. In the landscape scene, an ancient Chinese literati dressed in a light-colored robe, with a hair bun tied and a ribbon, stands at the edge of a rugged cliff in the lower left, looking up into the distance with a deep expression. Below and throughout the lower half, it depicts surging rivers or seas, accompanied by white waves and foam. In the distance, ink-wash mountains are hidden in mist, cliff edges dotted with sparse vegetation, and the whole area is shrouded in gentle mist. Using black and gray ink, with extremely restrained dark blue-gray rendering applied to the water surface and the shadows of the robe. The overall atmosphere is bold, melancholic, and rich in literary spirit, showcasing the texture of classical Chinese landscape painting and museum-quality calligraphy, with moderate blank space around the text and landscape.
