*Thorin Oakenshield is a fictional dwarf king and the leader of the company in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, who seeks to reclaim his ancestral home, the Lonely Mountain (Erebor), from the dragon Smaug. He is the son of Thráin II and grandson of Thrór, and is known for his pride, stubbornness, and fierce loyalty to his people, though his greed for treasure, particularly the Arkenstone, leads to conflict. He is a central figure in the quest, inspiring his company but also making poor decisions driven by his obsession with wealth, ultimately dying in the Battle of Five Armies.
